Help Make Halloween 2022 Special for Patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

Written by Selina Hallam

It's no fun for kids to be in hospital, let alone on a holiday like Halloween, but with your help, you can help bring a smile or two to pediatric patients' faces at no cost to yourself and in less than a minute of your time. You'll even help raise money for the hospital too; for each card sent by October 29th 2022, Delta Air Lines has pledged to give a dollar, up to $25,000 total.

As part of Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Halloween greeting card drive, individuals can create a spooktacular card online by choosing one of three cute animal designs and adding a message to a patient.

No matter where you are in the world, you're invited to create one of these cards online for free. It's a neat idea to help make Halloween special for children who are spending the holiday at the hospital and it really does take very little time - we tested it out for ourselves and it took thirty seconds.

The cards created will be printed out and hand-delivered on October 31st, along with fun Halloween goody bags and treats, and patients will also be able to take part in seasonal-themed activities at the hospital’s Pumpkin Party, such as pumpkin decorating and arts and crafts.

Carol Hamamoto, CHLA Manager, Child Life and Expressive Arts & Therapies, said, "Halloween is such a fun time for kids and that’s why we are so excited to host our Pumpkin Party in person for the first time in three years! With safety as our top priority, this event will take place outside and maintain physical distancing. The Halloween cards are a great way for the community to engage and celebrate the day with our patients who can’t leave the hospital to go trick-or-treating."

To send a card yourself in less than a minute, simply head to this page, choose one of the sweet animal designs and add a note and you're all done. CHLA suggests that your note is Halloween-themed rather than a get-well message, to help keep the celebration upbeat and positive for the kids and you can use theirs if you're in a hurry, or just copy and paste one of ours:

  • Have a spooktacular Halloween!
  • Trick or Treat!
  • Wishing you a day and night full of frights and a goody bag full of delights.
  • Have a fang-tastic Halloween!
  • Wishing you lots of fun and lots of yummy treats!
  • Witching you a very haunted Halloween!
  • Happy Haunting!
  • Happy Halloween from one fiend to another.
  • Happy Howl-o-ween!
  • Have a frightfully spooky Halloween.

Please forward this to your friends and family too so that they can join in with bringing Halloween to lots of young patients and help spread a smile this holiday.
