Send a Sick Child a Halloween Card for Free

CHLA Halloween

It's no fun for kids to be in hospital, let alone on a holiday like Halloween, but with your help, you can help bring a smile or two to pediatric patients' faces at no cost to yourself and in less than a minute of your time.

Children's Hospital Los Angeles
As reported on ABC7, as part of Children's Hospital Los Angeles' yearly Halloween greeting card drive, individuals can create a spooktacular card online by choosing one of three cute animal designs and adding a message to a patient. While CHLA cannot deliver specific cards to specific kids, the cards created will be printed, laminated and hand-delivered to all the pediatric patients on October 31st, along with fun goody bags.

No matter where you are in the world, you are invited to create one of these cards online for free. It's a neat idea to help make Halloween special for children who are spending the holiday at the hospital and it really does take very little time - we tested it out for ourselves and it took thirty seconds. Plus for each card sent by October 29th, a generous anonymous donor has pledged to give a dollar, up to $10,000 total.

CHLA cards

The Halloween themed festivities at CHLA this year also include pumpkin carving, arts and crafts and costume dress-up but these personal greeting cards are sure to be a welcome bonus for the kids, especially as they will be missing out on trick or treating or parties at home with friends and family members.

To send a card yourself in less than a minute, simply head to this page, choose one of the sweet animal designs and add a note and you're all done. CHLA suggests that your note is Halloween-themed rather than a get-well message, to help keep the celebration upbeat and positive for the kids and you can use theirs if you're in a hurry, or just copy and paste one of ours:

  • Have a spooktacular Halloween!
  • Trick or Treat!
  • Wishing you a day and night full of frights and a goody bag full of delights.

Please forward this to your friends and family too so that they can join in with bringing Halloween to lots of young patients and help spread a smile this holiday.
